Ah, weddings. They are the most joyous of occasions and at BashBLOK, we absolutely love them. A beautiful bride, handsome groom, delicious cake, hours of dancing and lots, and lots, of money spent. Let's face it, weddings are mucho expensive more often than not, couples go over budget. How does this happen? Even if you have done your research and know the average price tag of a wedding there are a lot of small, hidden costs people often fail to mention. We have learned a thing or two in our years of researching weddings and are delighted to share our tips on how to avoid wedding spending surprises.

Let's face it, entertaining can get pretty pricey pretty quickly. In my years of entertaining, I've done my fair share of overspending and getting caught up in the planning moment(s) when making purchases for events. Earlier this year I was looking for a marble serving platter to complement a few pieces I already own and just wasn't willing to spend the $120 for my favorite find. I thought, "Really? there's nothing to this thing!" My mind got working and I took a trip to Home Depot just to see how much a piece of marble tile would cost me. I-WAS-SHOCKED! I found a 12"x12" tile for less than $5...so I bought two :) Then, I took my mission a step further and took a trip to Michael's. Ah, leave it to the lovely Martha Stewart to have few reasonably priced gold gilding products. For about $15 (with coupons) I purchased all the supplies I needed to make my own version of a gold trimmed serving platter. And, I have a little video to show you my process plus, all supplies are listed below. Total cost, less than $20!

Enjoy!

xoxo, Brittany

We’ve all experienced our fair share of party planning disasters…I certainly know I have. Breakdowns in communication, going over budget, disorganized information and pretty much all the joy taken out of the celebration is what inspired me to found BashBLOK. My main goal was to make event planning fun again by creating a web application for planners everywhere to save time, enjoy collaborating and keep all the details in one place.

There is nothing like the ‘Fall’idays. It’s that magical time of year when the surroundings turn sepia toned, riding boots come out of storage and we southerners rejoice in cooler weather. The fall just happens to be team BashBLOK’s season of choice and we have a few quick and easy go-to traditions to add a little spice to entertaining this time of year. Your guests will be so impressed with these charming touches they will be counting down the days to your next bash.

It's Fall, our favorite time of year! Even more of a favorite for team BashBLOK is Halloween. This spooky holiday allows our DIY team to get super crafty, creative and lends the opportunity to use glow-in-the-dark paint. To get ready for our upcoming 'All Hallow's Eve' Bash we have prepared a very quick and easy pumpkin centerpiece. The majority of these items for this craft were purchased at Michael's for under $50 with coupons and fall decor promotions. Can't beat that! Follow step-by-step and learn how to recreate this pumpkin display for your next Spooky Bash!

It's National Dog Day and at BashBLOK, we love our furry friends. What better way to celebrate man's/woman's best friend than to treat them to a yummy and healthy snack. Our 'Frosty Paws' recipe is quick, easy and requires no baking. Simply mix these ingredients together and freeze in ice cube trays. If a healthy treat just isn't enough for your special pup we got you covered! Check out the BashBLOK National Dog Day picks.
